Stoney Creek Farm was started in 1994 by Tim and Jodi Knecht, with
one horse, one acre and a lot of dreams. Through a lot of
hard work and determination, (not to mention the love and
support of friends and family...and the grace of God) "Stoney
Creek" now resides on a gorgeous 50 acre parcel (pictured
above) and is home to many types of animals. Along
with our children we enjoy the constant pursuit of adding to
and caring for our animals.
Animals have always been a passion of ours and it seems the
more exotic the better! Tim loves to have different and
interesting animals all around him. We started with regular
farm animals and progressed to animals not regularly seen
around us. Building our herd of Mini Zebu cattle took us
to five different states, but the winters here are too harsh
for them so they had to be sold. Tim then decided that Fancy
pheasants were the way to go. We now have Red and Yellow
Golden pheasants, Silver Pheasants, Amhurst and Reeves. This
only led to Apricot wood ducks, Mandarin ducks and a pair of
Mute Swans...Hey! What is a pond without swans? We also
have a pair of Llamas and some mini donkeys. In December we
added two Royal Yak from Missouri to our Group. I am not
sure about this venture, but Tim assures me they don't get
as big as I think!! (Yeah Right!)
With each exotic auction that comes up, rumors circulate and
neighbors wonder what will appear next. (Rest assured we
turned down our children's pleas for an alligator, a lion
cub, a coda mundi, and a wallaby!...we are not totally
insane.)
As
a child, I recall seeing pictures, of beautiful black and
white horses with long manes and tails and loads of feather
on their feet. They just seemed to float as they ran. The
Gypsy Vanner!! These magnificent horses had always been an
unattainable dream for me (Jodi) until Tim found an ad for
importing them from the United Kingdom. He searched and
found a bred mare and filly. They have since joined our
family and we anxiously await the birth of our Gypsy Vanner
foals each Spring!!!
